Sometimes I've had trouble with getting email with a particular WMN account... and I go back to Options, and kind of edit the account... re-enter the info (especially password)... and it will begin working. Maybe a software glitch, maybe an input mistake.
I've seen some occasional fits when some of my accounts don't want to get checked by WMN... I think this may clear up over time ...but what I do to hurry it along is pop up the WMN account list (you can open WMN Window, sidebar or right-click on the WMN envelope), and then click the account that's not responding... this opens up the account in a tab, of course... then go ahead and log in.
If there's an option to remember your password, that may help. I'm not sure... I just know that if I fuss with logging in a bit, WMN usually starts getting results again. Sometimes I go into the WMN Options, and check the account definition, making sure the password is current/correct by retyping it... carefully. Perhaps this helps reset a stuck 'bit' somewhere... or perhaps this is just 'busywork' for me until it straightens itself out. I don't know why the accounts sometimes get 'sticky'.
Good luck. (All my accounts... POP3, Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail, Facebook, etc. ...currently are working in both Thunderbird and Firefox... and Chrome; I -have- been fussing with them a bit lately, though.)
I have recently installed FF4 and WMN addon for my Gmail account , but it doesn't work.
I have done this
check if you can login manually in firefox without any unusual messages.
clear cookies and caches.
check if your password is correct in password manager of firefox.
restart firefox.
but it still doesn't work , it doesn't notify when new mail arrives.
I have configured WMN with an Imap mail server, but that work only if I clear cache and restart Firefox 4 and that for 1 minute. I configure for check the mail box all the minutes ...
WMN stopped working about a month ago. I have uninstalled and reinstalled a few times. Triple checked my password, etc. Putting my mouse over the icon it always says the same thing. No new mail/Yahoo not checked. I have undated FF twice and am now on 4.0. I can manually sign on with no issues using the same password. If I have yahoo mail open, I do get (2 emails) in the tab bar but still states 'no new mail/Yahoo not checked'.
Nokia make changes on ovi mail service with yahoo mail. The script before that worked great, but now not anymore.
I have tried to make my own script, but honestly (after two days), a really need help (i'm amateur).
Hello, today I found out that the notifier does not check several mailaccounts in Hotmail. Can you help to fix this? Otherwise I have no need for this addon. Ed.
Hi,
Like Rizzo and Firewiz, it seems that notifier doesn't work anymore with Hotmail... Is there any way to fix that ?
Thanks for the hard work, keep going, I really love this add !
Edit: Just see your message, CFB. We just have to wait a little =) Thanks again !
Ha, I see that Iam not the only one with this problem. I believe you when you say it will work again tomorrow. Yet now he also does not check my Gmail anymore. Lets hope that the problem will be fixed soon because it is a great!!! addon. Keep up the good work. Thanks, Ed.
I had two good accounts of hotmail that worked very well, but now one of them stopped working I have reviewed everything and everything is normal what happened??
thanks
hi there, this problem has being pursuing me for a long time.. but this time seems to be more seriously
from time to time, the hotmail freezes UP, i have 7 emails all from hotmail and one from gmail. I use firefox.
all the emails are shown UNCHECKED, the program can not login automatically, i can login manually but i CAN click on any email, i cant see, i cant send, i can do NOTHING upon the hotmail page, i have tried to clear the cache cookies, deleted all files in temporary user folder, nothing seems to debug this thing. PLEASE HELP.
i have uninstalled the addon, but my hotmail still stuck, i cant click anywhere, tried to install it again, same thing. When i login with any account i open the error console and i theres various errors.
i can access hotmail through another browser..
PLEASE HELP, i depend on this addon to work, its very important for me because i have various emails..
Last night MSN added a new Java script to the Hotmail page. If you have Noscript, that is probably blocking it and causing all your problems. If that's not it, then you probably need to update your Java so it can run the new script. Third, something else (firewall, whatever) is blocking the script.
None of that helps with the WMN issues though, which were also caused by the changes MS made last night. That's probably going to take an update.
Webmail is not working on my hotmail accounts. This is a problem I had never had before the last update (unlike some old posts) and it suddenly wont sign in even tough I can manually do it without any problems
Too many people are unable to check Hotmail via WMN... for the problem to be a software conflict on your machine (although it could be ;)... it's more likely that Microsoft changed the Hotmail login process. Yes, with the Hotmail script... you can still click that account in WMN and go to the login page and login. But that mail check failure would -not- affect Yahoo or any other login via WMN. Tobwithu (WMN developer) will have to look into it.
Everyone can, for the time being, check their Hotmail account with the POP3 script.
The server is: pop3.live.com
However, if you want to be able to click Hotmail and go to the webpage from the WMN account listings... you'll have to put the webmail login address in the "Link" box for POP3 script...
...will suffice to allow you to click Hotmail in the WMN window, and be taken to the sign-in page. If your browser 'remembers' you, then maybe you'll already be logged in.

...[ME again... man!]...
--(just another user)--
Thank you for posting the link http://webmailnotifier.mozdev.org/installation.html to the new WMN 2.7.9 version with the Hotmail update. I was checking this page every few hours for this! It works again! Thank you! (I totally forgot to look on Facebook.)
with version 2.7.9 the program can login automaticaly as always that problem is solved, THANK YOU!!!!
Unfortunately i still CAN NOT select or see any email. im stuck at hotmails page, tried with various logins, samething. Tried erase cache and cookies, samething. Tried reinstall java, samething. Tried another browser problem solved, but i like Firefox so i still need to fix this. Tried login manualy, samething. Gmail works fine, yahoo works fine.
Just doublecheking: i've tried almost everything i know about, always end up getting stuck in hotmail INBOX page, cant select, cant click, cant see email, keyboard doesnt respond, the script is bugged and i think i just need to find the file that hotmails leaves it's cache so i can delete it and then it will be reset.
Any info or GUESS will be very appreciated, please HELP. Thanks
Just to test...
Can you just open a tab in Firefox (not using WebMail Notifier), go to Hotmail, and login... does that work? THEN... try from WMN again.
Have you tried exporting your WMN accounts, UNinstalling 2.7.9... re-installing 2.7.9, and importing your WMN accounts???
---...........................---
...[ME again... man!]...
--(just another user)--
I tried to login manually, going to hotmail.com, typing my credentials, then i got logged in, when i get to the IN-BOX page the script freezes, i click everywhere but none link respond, this problem is only happening in firefox, when i try chrome or IE it works just fine.
i also tried your suggestion "exporting your WMN accounts, UNinstalling 2.7.9... re-installing 2.7.9, and importing your WMN accounts", no success =/
Like i said this situation already happened with me before, from time-to-time, but i somehow always managed to get rid of it and got my in-box page working again, but this time, this time seems to be a bit more complex, i think that if i manage to get to the file that allocate hotmail's cache file i can fix this, i'll delete this file forcing the hotmail script to reset and work again, because obviously it is froze. I believe this file is inside Firefox's cache files around the system, there are a few folders, three i think, but if i delete the whole folder i lost everything in firefox, i need to find the specific file and delete only this file.
well anyway thanks for your support mate.
edit: i have unnistalled Firefox, and installed it again, can you believe the problem continues? really dont know what else to do..
Webmail Notifier only does two things... 1) checks for new emails (silently in the background) displaying the new email count, if any (no webpages/tabs involved)... and... 2) WMN can simply open a tab pointing to your inbox, where it stops... WMN does nothing else there.
Webmail Notifier does not affect your manual browsing... WebMail Notifier does not provide a script... to Firefox ...for your -manual- login and opening of Hotmail Inbox.
If you manually login and open Hotmail Inbox with just Firefox, by going to www.hotmail.com, and opening your Inbox ...and it then freezes... then it's not likely a WebMail Notifier problem, and it's not going to be WMN's Hotmail 'script'. Firefox does not use the WMN script to get you to Hotmail Inbox -manually-. If you manually login by opening your own tab/webpage, and your inbox freezes... you probably have other software which is causing that problem.
Here's a test: save/export WMN accounts, UNinstall WebMail Notifier 2.7.9 ...and leave it UNinstalled. Do NOT re-install WMN... but just go manually to www.hotmail.com and login and go to your Inbox. If it freezes then... without WMN installed at all.... then it's definitely not a WebMail Notifier/script problem. It would be other software... Firefox, or another add-on in Firefox, or other programs (security software) on your computer... affecting Firefox's ability to display your Hotmail inbox.
Sorry if this is obvious or doesn't help, but it sounds like your inbox is freezing without WebMail Notifier...
I've just been answering a few questions in the forum, as one user to another. I'm not a moderator or developer... can't troubleshoot your other Firefox add-ons or security software. You could disable your other add-ons, one by one, manually logging into your inbox each time... to see if it's another add-on causing the problem.
I just suggest ways to clear up WebMail Notifier glitches... like reinstalling WebMail Notifier, sometimes. Because sometimes that fixes WMN probs.
Anyway... sorry couldn't help. Good luck.

--(just another user)--
My little web mail notifier envelope has a little circle with a line thru it. It first appeared when there was a problem checking hotmail. I downloaded the fix and it is checking all my mail but the little red circle is still there.
Anyone know how to get rid of it/
Thanks
If you 'right-click' on that little envelope... you'll see "Enable" (no checkmark) in the pop-up menu... meaning, that WMN is not enabled to auto-check email (I think).
You can click 'Enable' (which puts a check mark), and the little red circle/slash will go away! ;)

lycos with zimbra
one account that does not use zimbra still works with the script of Lycos 2010-04-15. The other 2 accounts with Zimbra have not worked since the last 3 updates... can you please update the script?
Thank you...
[FIXED]Hotmail.com works manually in Firefox, however...
not from WebMail Notifier! Is there a fix?
Update:
Thanks for the update, it works perfectly now with hotmail.

Doesn't work with Roadrunner
I've tried everything you suggest and can't get it to work with my Roadrunner account...I can get the emails fine on my Droid.
Still can't get it to work

Roadrunner
What are you using to set up Roadrunner in WMN? POP3 ??
(I looked in the available WMN Scripts page, and I don't see a Roadrunner script.)
If you're using POP3 ...you may need to add the port on the end of the server entry...
Examples:
pop-server.sc.rr.com:110
or (for former Adelphia users)...
pop-server.roadrunner.com:110
(use -your- server address, as necessary... just add... :110 ...on the end.
Or :995 ...for 'secure' POP3 server).

Toubleshoot
Sometimes I've had trouble with getting email with a particular WMN account... and I go back to Options, and kind of edit the account... re-enter the info (especially password)... and it will begin working. Maybe a software glitch, maybe an input mistake.

Yahoo Workin Again!
the 2.7.6 update fixed my yahoo problem.

Use WMN and login... seems to help
Still working ;) 3/31/2011
Doesn't worl with Gmail acount
I have recently installed FF4 and WMN addon for my Gmail account , but it doesn't work.
I have done this
check if you can login manually in firefox without any unusual messages.
clear cookies and caches.
check if your password is correct in password manager of firefox.
restart firefox.
but it still doesn't work , it doesn't notify when new mail arrives.
A
Troubleshoot Imap connection
I have configured WMN with an Imap mail server, but that work only if I clear cache and restart Firefox 4 and that for 1 minute. I configure for check the mail box all the minutes ...
Is someone have the same trouble ?
Yahoo not checked
WMN stopped working about a month ago. I have uninstalled and reinstalled a few times. Triple checked my password, etc. Putting my mouse over the icon it always says the same thing. No new mail/Yahoo not checked. I have undated FF twice and am now on 4.0. I can manually sign on with no issues using the same password. If I have yahoo mail open, I do get (2 emails) in the tab bar but still states 'no new mail/Yahoo not checked'.

Problems with Hotmail
Hi,
Like Rizzo and Firewiz, it seems that notifier doesn't work anymore with Hotmail... Is there any way to fix that ?
Thanks for the hard work, keep going, I really love this add !
Edit: Just see your message, CFB. We just have to wait a little =) Thanks again !
Hmmm?
CFB!?
What makes you say it will work tomorrow? ;)
No, really... WMN's Hotmail script was working fine for me -earlier- today.
Now it's not checking.
I have two other programs (MailWasher and Thunderbird) that access Hotmail fine via POP3, no problem... so why is WMN's script failing??
Just wondering if you know... what's 'on Hotmail side'?
(Could it be related to Javilink's problem with Spanish Hotmail?)

Hotmail problems
Last night MSN added a new Java script to the Hotmail page. If you have Noscript, that is probably blocking it and causing all your problems. If that's not it, then you probably need to update your Java so it can run the new script. Third, something else (firewall, whatever) is blocking the script.
None of that helps with the WMN issues though, which were also caused by the changes MS made last night. That's probably going to take an update.
Hotmail problems
Webmail is not working on my hotmail accounts. This is a problem I had never had before the last update (unlike some old posts) and it suddenly wont sign in even tough I can manually do it without any problems
I'm having the same problem,
I'm having the same problem, not sure whether it is a problem with adblock plus which was newly installed. I can login fine at Hotmail.com too.
Update fixed hotmail on WBN
Whatever it was, the update fixed it well. Cheers!
Use POP3, if necessary
Too many people are unable to check Hotmail via WMN... for the problem to be a software conflict on your machine (although it could be ;)... it's more likely that Microsoft changed the Hotmail login process. Yes, with the Hotmail script... you can still click that account in WMN and go to the login page and login. But that mail check failure would -not- affect Yahoo or any other login via WMN. Tobwithu (WMN developer) will have to look into it.
Everyone can, for the time being, check their Hotmail account with the POP3 script.
The server is: pop3.live.com
However, if you want to be able to click Hotmail and go to the webpage from the WMN account listings... you'll have to put the webmail login address in the "Link" box for POP3 script...
http://www.hotmail.com
or
https://login.live.com
...will suffice to allow you to click Hotmail in the WMN window, and be taken to the sign-in page. If your browser 'remembers' you, then maybe you'll already be logged in.

Thank you for fast Hotmail fix
Thank you for posting the link http://webmailnotifier.mozdev.org/installation.html to the new WMN 2.7.9 version with the Hotmail update. I was checking this page every few hours for this! It works again! Thank you! (I totally forgot to look on Facebook.)
Thank you...!!!
Thank you, thank you for the quick fix of the webmail notifier. Everything works like a charm again, YAY!!!
Thank Very much
Everything works perfectly now ....!!!!!
Thank you very much...
Doesn't work for me.
Prior only the Hotmail didn't work. Now Hotmail still doesn't work as well as Yahoo and Gmail. I have uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of times.
works partially
hello,
with version 2.7.9 the program can login automaticaly as always that problem is solved, THANK YOU!!!!
Thanks
Guessing
Just to test...
Can you just open a tab in Firefox (not using WebMail Notifier), go to Hotmail, and login... does that work? THEN... try from WMN again.
Have you tried exporting your WMN accounts, UNinstalling 2.7.9... re-installing 2.7.9, and importing your WMN accounts???
---...........................---
...[ME again... man!]...
--(just another user)--
Thats what i said, or at
Thats what i said, or at least meant.
Sorry, confusing.
Good luck.

The icon on the lower right issue
My little web mail notifier envelope has a little circle with a line thru it. It first appeared when there was a problem checking hotmail. I downloaded the fix and it is checking all my mail but the little red circle is still there.
Anyone know how to get rid of it/
Thanks
Not "enabled"
If you 'right-click' on that little envelope... you'll see "Enable" (no checkmark) in the pop-up menu... meaning, that WMN is not enabled to auto-check email (I think).
You can click 'Enable' (which puts a check mark), and the little red circle/slash will go away! ;)
